
The mission of the Development Program is to allow kindergartners, first- and second-graders the opportunity to learn the fundamental skills of basketball while having fun and developing a love for the game. This program is uniquely structured to help children learn the game of basketball. There are six 60-minute sessions. Each session consists of warm-up/skill development time and a 3-on-3 game where players have the opportunity to apply the skills they have learned. Each game is made up of two 15-minute halves with a brief halftime.

- Shawnee Mission & Olathe Elementary school locations AND/OR City Center Fitness.
- Register as an individual player or as a team.
- The clock runs continuously, stopping about every 5 minutes for substitutions.
- Teams generally are composed of 6 players in order to provide each player equal playing time.
- Ball size is 27.5.
- Goal height: 8 feet.
- The season/games run for 6 weeks on Saturday and Sunday's usually beginning in September of 2021

COVID-19 Guidelines:
The following is a list of safety guidelines to be followed: (recommended by the CDC)
1) Self Check - Any player/coach/spectator not feeling well or is showing signs/symptoms, PLEASE STAY AT HOME.
2) Everyone entering the facility will be asked to have a non contact temperature check.
3) Mask requirement for everyone unless you are a player on court during a game.
4) Attendance limited to 2 adults per player. Siblings allowed, must stay with parents at all times.
5) No outside basketballs allowed (only coaches with 2 game balls).
6) No outside food or drink.
7) Players should bring personal water containers (no sharing/team coolers).
8) Players, Coaches and Spectators encouraged to use hand sanitizer/wash hands before game, timeouts, half time and following the game.
9) Staggered game times, no congregating for pre and post game.
10) Teams only allowed to enter 10-15 minutes prior to game time.
11) Benches, score table and equipment to be disinfected between all games.
12) Social distance when possible. Spectators in bleacher, coach – player meetings, official meeting pre and post game as well as when possible during game.
13) No team handshakes following games.
