The Great American Basketball League (GABL) and MOKAN Basketball have entered into a strategic partnership focused on developing and delivering premier youth basketball programs to Kansas City athletes.

For 50 years GABL has been the largest youth basketball program in Kansas City, serving over 9000 participants annually – from three year olds to high school players.

“Everyone at GABL is excited for the potential reach this partnership has. We want to give the youth in Kansas City the best opportunities possible and bringing two great Kansas City basketball brands together will help us do just that. Matt, and everyone at MOKAN, have been great to work with while we drew up this strategic partnership and we are looking forward to years of growing together” GABL Executive Director Brett Hunter explained.

MOKAN has been synonymous with elite grassroots basketball both in the midwest and nationally for over a decade. Since MOKAN’s founding, over 250 players have received college scholarships while 65 have gone on to be professional athletes, including 11 NBA draft picks and 16 NBA players in total.

“Since founding MOKAN in 2004, our goal has been to use basketball to provide life changing opportunities for our players. We are incredibly excited about the opportunity to work with GABL to leverage both of our platforms in an effort to extend our reach and impact in the Kansas City area and beyond” said MOKAN’s founder Matt Suther.

The most immediate change will be MOKAN and GABL Future merging their youth programs, to be called MOKAN Future. The MOKAN Elite program that participates in Nike's Elite Youth Basketball League will continue to operate separately but with support from both organizations.
