Great American Basketball League began asking teams and spectators to donate non-perishable food items during one weekend of play in 2002. Harvesters and the Johnson County Human Services Community Food Pantry have been beneficiaries of the food drive.The annual food drive is traditionally held in late January. More than 14,000 pounds of food have been donated over the years.
