MOST GABL Future practices, tryouts and meetings are held at the Family Life Center in Lenexa, KS.  The home of the GABL Academy.  Second practice location is located at the brand new Lenexa Hills Elementary next to the Family Life Center at 8650 Haven St., Lenexa, KS 66219.

FAQ

Q: My child played future team in the spring/summer. Does he need to register for and attend tryouts for the fall?
A: Yes, all returning players need to register for and attend tryouts (that is also the first practice).

Q: How many games do we play?

A:  Roughly 13-14 in the fall season.  The fall season starts the day after Labor Day and ends at the end of October.  

Q: What is the practice schedule?
A:  Our practice times are set up by the coaching staff. Each grade/team is different and designed by each individual coach.  The fall season has 1, one and half hour practice per week.  

Q: Where are tournaments, leagues and practices held?
A:  All practices are held at Family Life Center, the home of the GABL Academy. Tournaments and league games are held throughout the Kansas City Metro Area.

Q: How many players are on a team?
A: Teams range from 9-11 players.

Q: When will we find out if our child made the team?
A: Teams will be announced via email and you will have to log into your account and accept your child's spot within 2 days.

Q: How is playing time handled?
A: We can't say that everyone will play equally but we do say that everyone will get similar minutes. Practice participation and game availability will factor into playing time.

Q: How many teams will be formed?
A: The number of teams is determined after tryouts by the GABL Future coaches.    

Q: What do coaches look for in tryouts?
A: Coaches look for a variety of skills. Dribbling/ball handling, shooting, defensive skills are all important to the game of basketball and are necessary to play on these teams.

Cost and Fees

New Players: $175 per month (September and October)
Returning Players: $150 per month (September and October)
