WHY GABL?

  • We are in our 36th year as one of the premier youth basketball leagues in the Kansas City area; part of the GABL Youth Sports Foundation, Inc., a non-profit 501-c-3 community organization.
     
  • Boys and girls programs from pre-K through high school.
     
  • No geographical restrictions on team formation.
     
  • Teams are grouped in divisions by competitive level, as registrations allow.
     
  • No admission charge for spectators to watch GABL league games.
     
  • Nearly 48 percent of GABL officials work at the junior varsity or varsity level in high school.
     
  • League managed by Sports Management Associates (SMA), a professional management company.
     
  • GABL Basketball Academy offers KidHoops (pre-K), 3-on-3 development program (K-2nd grade), camps, individual skill development, an Elite Team program and coaches clinics.
     
  • Awards provided for all leagues and tournaments.
     
  • Special Events.

o       Fall, Holiday and Summer Hoopfest 3-on-3 Tournaments at The College Basketball Experience (CBE).

o       Tournaments sponsored in conjunction with Hoops4Hope and the American Cancer Society throughout the year 

·         Uniform services available through GABL Properties.

·         Excess accident insurance provided for all participants. 

·         Official game ball’s provided at all sites. 

Winter Program
 

  • Team or individual entries are accepted.
     
  • Practice time included in registration fee for Shawnee Mission-based teams.
     
  • Season runs from November through the end of February. (Teams play 10-14 games depending on grade.)
     
  • Uniform jerseys are provided for players in 2nd-4th grade and high school.
     
  • Clock stops on all whistles in 2nd-8th grade-no running clock.
     
  • Sportsmanship program that includes awards for teams that demonstrate excellence in this area.
     
  • Coaches certification program provided.
     
  • Scholarships available for participants, if necessary.
     
  • Team photograph program available.
     
  • Minimum playing time rule applies.
     
  • Annual Food Drive.
     
  • 8th Grade All-Star Classic at The CBE.
